Resign from Bihar Assembly too, Lalu tells JDU

Lalu Prasad said that Nitish Kumar and his partymen should resign from the assembly also.

Seeking to downplay the resignations of five JD(U) MPs from the Lok Sabha, Railways Minister Lalu Prasad today said that Nitish Kumar and his partymen should resign from the assembly also.

“Why only resigning from Lok Sabha? JD(U) MPs, MLAs and MLCs should also resign from Rajya Sabha, state assembly and council. All our RJD MPs, MLAs and MLCs are also ready to do the same,” Prasad told reporters here.

Terming the JD(U) act as a breach in the unity of Bihar leaders, RJD supremo said, “It was decided to fight the Maharashtra issue unitedly and accordingly an all-party delegation met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recently.

Representatives of all parties including JD(U), LJP, Congress, NCP, CPI and CPI(M) had agreed on that day to take up the issue of attack on North Indians unitedly. But the JD(U) breached the unity and went ahead with this resignation,” he said.

Even its ally BJP had also maintained that the JD(U)’s action was a “historic blunder”, Prasad pointed out.

The resignations of JD(U) Lok Sabha MPs have come at a time when politics is hotting up in Bihar on the issue of attack on North Indians in Maharashtra by the Raj Thackeray-led MNS.
