The Delhi High Court asked the petitioners (Kanshi Ram’s mother and brother) to respond to the BSP’s plea by tomorrow. Issuing the direction, Justice B.N. Chaturvedi asked the petitioners to amend their petition to also include their plea for shifting Kanshi Ram to AIIMS from Batra Hospital and fixed June 25 for hearing. The BSP has objected to the relatives’ plea for shifting Kanshi Ram from Batra Hospital, where he is under medical care for the past nine months. In its application, the party stated that more than Rs 40 lakh has been spent by it on his treatment at Batra. The BSP said it failed to understand ‘‘from what source, the petitioners would be able to arrange the payment’’. Moreover, Kanshi Ram’s term as a Rajya Sabha MP would end on July 4, after that there would be no entitlement to be treated at AIIMS, the BSP stated.
