VIJAYAWADA, July 20: The political differences between Union Minister of State for Health Renuka Chowdhury and film star-turned-Rajya Sabha member Jayaprada further deepened today with the former referring to the latter as a person lacking in political maturity.
“She lacks political knowledge and maturity,” the Union Minister said, when a reporter, at a press conference at the State Guest House here today, drew her attention to the alleged rift between her and Jayaprada.
“I have not said anything that would hurt Jayaprada. But some persons are misleading her,” Chowdhury claimed.
The Minister said she had already spoken to the film star on the issue. “I have never spoken anything bad about any woman except Lakshmi Parvathi. After all, as a woman I seek the welfare of all women,” Chowdhury said, regretting that Jayaprada still seemed to bear a grudge despite her (Chowdhury’s) clarification through the electronic media.
She is creating the controversy and dragging it, the Union Minister charged, adding that she herself was too busy with official business to enter into controversies.
Chowdhury, who was in the city for a brief while en route to Hyderabad, clarified, however, that she did not believe Jayaprada was attacking her out of political jealousy.
