CHANDIGARH, Jan 20: The Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) and NITCON jointly organised a “renewable energy run” to mark the 50 years of country’s Independence, here today.

The 2-km run in which school and college student took part, was flagged off by Punjab Minister for Medical Education, Research and Science and Technology Maheshinder Singh Grewal. The run which began from the Housing Board crossing culminated at Panjab University campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Grewal said: “The run was organised with the objective to motivate the young generation particular the school and college students to promote the use of environmental sources of energy.”

Panjab University Vice-Chancellor M.M. Puri said that the concept of renewable energy should be followed and maximum use of natural resources should be made.

Others present on the occasion were PEDA chairman Y.S. Ratra, and PEDA chief executive Jagjit Puri.
