The Supreme Court today expressed concern over restrictions imposed on noted danseuse Mallika Sarabhai and told the Gujarat government to ‘‘see that these restrictions are removed by February 23’’. Expressing happiness over the Supreme Court’s order, Sarabhai today said the verdict ended the ‘‘horror’’ she had experienced during the last few months. ‘‘She is not a criminal. There has to be some fairness in the prosecution of persons,’’ the Court observed when Additional Solicitor General Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Gujarat government, said the restrictions were imposed by a court hearing a criminal case lodged against her. The bench said: ‘‘Sometimes it gives an impression that she is being prosecuted for approaching the Court. See to it that by the next date the restrictions are lifted,’’ the bench said and scheduled the next hearing for February 23.
