It sure is a poster moment especially for collectors and Bollywood buffs who8217;ve been on the prowl for years, trying to get their hands on it. People for Animals, Chandigarh, in yet another interesting exhibition-cum-sale are going to pin-up the best of Bollywood8217;s classic collection of posters. 8220;We are constructing our fourth hospital, and could certainly do with more funds!8221; PFA8217;s Payal Sodhi gives us a lowdown on a series of fund raisers that are being organized on a regular basis. 8220;We8217;ve had exhibitions and sale of pottery, oleographs of Raja Ravi Verma , century old lithographs, paintings of Manu Parekh, antique tiles, and now this, film posters titled Divas Unveiled.8221; According to Payal, posters of old classic films is now becoming an art collector8217;s item and is gaining a lot of popularity in the international market. 8220;These posters are also being auctioned by India8217;s reputed auction houses based in Delhi and Mumbai and are rage in the European market, especially those of Amitabh Bachchan8217;s films and Raj Kapoor8217;s,8221; tells Payal, adding how one poster can go for as high as Rs 35,000. 8220;But here we are pricing them between Rs 1,500 and Rs 8,000.8221; The exhibition will include posters of films falling between 1940 and 2007. The posters are first edition prints and are available in two sizes i.e. 408221; x 308221; 038; 308221;x 208221;. 8220;Aah, Barsaat, Aan, Boot Polish, Sangam, Shri 420, Mother India, Mugal-e-Azam, Anarkali, Aar Paar, Kati Patang, Khandaan, Do Ankhen Barah Haath, Daag, Johnny Mera Naam, the entire Big B series, latest films like Don new, Om Shanti Om, Mangal Pandey, Chak de India, Devdas8230;.they are all on display,8221; informs Payal.
This exhibition and sale will be held at the Government Arts Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh from the October 31 to November 3. It will remain open from 10 am to 6 pm.
