The CBI today asked a designated court to reconsider its order asking the agency to get sanction from the Supreme Court for closing cases of alleged irregularities in the allocation of petrol pumps registered against former Petroleum Minister Satish Sharma.

The CBI said since the Centre had “declined to accord sanction to prosecute Sharma, on the basis of an SC order”, it would not be necessary to place the matter before SC. The CBI had filed a closure report after the Home Ministry refused sanction to prosecute Sharma.
