The body of the ‘commander-in-chief’ of a separatist outfit, reportedly killed by its members following internecine rivalries, was recovered by the Meghalaya police, police said on Friday.

The body of Nichen Sangma, the ‘c-in-c’ of Liberation Achik Elite Force (LAEF) was found buried near a camp of the outfit following a tip off by two of its members who were arrested on July 1.

The other members of the camp at Parasin area of East Garo Hills, however, managed to escape the police who found AK-47 rifles from the spot during the raid.
