Mumbai, Nov 19: Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers defeated Mumbai Port Trust 25-16, 25-18 25-14 in the final of the ninth Mumbai City District volleyball championship at the MbPT ground, Mazagaon, today.

The Dinesh More and Premkumar’s combination, with the help of Siju Lonnapan and Vilas Kale helped RCF to capture the title.

Somaiya Sports Club defeated Chembur YMCA 74-55 (HT 29-28) in the final of the inaugural Acharya College U-22 winter basketball league at Chembur today. Kayron Gomes (16), brother Ralph (22), Pankaj Rane (10) and Sachin More (10) scored for the winners, while Santosh Rao (20), Sheldon Buthello (10) and A Jude (14) served Chembur YMCA. International Shahid Qureshi gave away the prizes — kit bags for members of each of the five participating teams.

Amladi XI, Surve XI win
Mohini Amladi XI and Tukaram Surve XI registered outright wins against Appa Babrekar XI and K Ramchandran XI, respectively, in the second-round of the MCA under-22 cricket selection trials for the Omtex Trophy, conducted by the Dadar Parsee Zorastrian, at the Dadkar Maidan, Matunga (E), today.

Maharashtra qualify
Defending champions Railways, Maharashtra, Bank Sports Board, Haryana and Karnataka men entered the knock-out stage of the Mayor’s Cup 46th Senior National kabaddi championship in Amravati, according to information available here. Maharashtra beat Chandigarh 24-19 today.

In the women’s section, Railways and Maharashtra registered convincing victories. Maharashtra beat Karnataka 48-18, while Railways downed Andhra Pradesh 74-24.
