Uttaranchal’s former Revenue minister Harak Singh Rawat, who is allegedly involved in the unwed mother scandal, has now trained his guns on his own party, the Congress. Rawat, who resigned following allegations by an unwed mother that he was the father of her new born child, has demanded that his DNA test be conducted at the earliest to establish the truth.

He has also alleged that his party has failed to defend him. Last week, he organised a rally in the capital to demand that his name be cleared after a speedy probe. Rawat charged that he was the victim of a conspiracy. He also alleged that the House committee, which met the woman, had not been notified and comprised Opposition members only.
