A day after the Asam Sahitya Sabha, the state’s highest literary body, rejected the ULFA’s demand for sovereignty and accused the outfit of bringing disgrace to Assam by killing innocent Hindi-speaking people, the militant group today accused the Sabha of being mouthpiece of RAW and “Colonial India.”

“The Asam Sahitya Sabha is being used by RAW to oppose or reject our demand for sovereignty. The reality is that the Sabha, especially under present president Kanaksen Deka, does not represent the entire people of Assam,” a statement issued by ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa said. “The Sahitya Sabha president has fallen into the RAW trap to use the Sabha’s platform to oppose the ULFA.” Meanwhile, reacting to the ULFA chairman Rajkhowa’s criticism, Deka said the ULFA was nothing but a bunch of people wielding guns who had nothing to do with the development of Assam and the Assamese people.
