Rastogi loses semis but wins Davis Cup place

It was a mixed day for Karan Rastogi. On the day he lost his Australian Open junior semi-final to France’s Gael Monfils 2-6, 2-6 he was included in the Davis Cup squad.

Karan would now head for New Zealand for India’s February 6 to 8 Davis Cup encounter at Invercargill. Honorary General Secretary AITA Anil Khanna informed, that ‘‘this was a reward for Karan’s fine performance in the past one year.’’

For the 17-year-old Mumbai boy this came as a surprise. ‘‘I am very happy to be a part of the team and it would be invaluable experience for me,’’ he told The Indian Express.
