MUMBAI, June 8: Rashmin Pulekar (Elo 2110) emerged champion in the Open category of the Bharat Petroleum Chess Utsav ’98 conducted by the Gokuldham Chess Club Utsav ’98, conducted by the Gokuldham Chess Club at the Gokuldham High School, Goregaon.

Rashmin scored seven points out of a possible eight. The only game Rashmin lost was the one against D Ravishankar.

N Neelakantan (Elo 2250) was second with six and a half points. Neharika Thakkar won the under-10 with four and a half points out of a possible five. Tenth seed Akshay Raj Kore won the runners-up spot also with four and half points.

In the under-14 category, Anuj A Pandit emerged champion after scoring four and a half points out of five. Sagar Masurekar finished second with four points.

Yashodhan Gogte won the under-18 and Yogita Yevle won the second spot. Gogte was adjudged best player based on his performances in the Gokuldham Chess Club tournaments.
