CHANDIGARH, Oct 28: The woman who was killed after being crushed by a Punjab Roadways bus on Tuesday evening has been identified as forty two-year-old Charanjit Kaur, a clerk in the office of the Punjab Director Health Services.Police sources said that the accident was caused due to the negligence of bus driver Nichhater Singh, who was arrested and later bailed out. According to the information supplied by the scooter driver Surinder Kumar, a senior lab technician in the same office and the deceased's brother-in-law, to the police, the accident occurred at about 5.15 p.m.The two, who are both residents of SAS Nagar, were headed for the barrier near Sector 46, via the road dividing Sectors 44 and 45. As the scooter came on the road dividing Sector 45 from Colony number 5, Surinder saw a truck parked on the left side of the road. He told the police that as he was overtaking the truck, the scooter was hit by the said bus from behind."While I fell on the left side of the road due to the impact of the collision, Ravinder Kaur fell on the right side and the bus, which was at a great speed, moved forward crushing her," the complainant told the police.The woman, said the police, was killed on the spot. A case has been registered.
