NEW DELHI, November 6: Unseasonal rains forced the abandonment of the North Zone one-day league match between the Services and Punjab at Air Force Palam ground and the Central Zone match between Railways and Vidarbha at the Karnail Singh Stadium here today.All the four concerned teams gained one point each as a result.At the Palam ground, Services, after being put in to bat by Punjab skipper Vikram Rathore, reached 76 without loss in 20 overs when the game was called off. Narender Singh (37) and Sarabjit Singh (34) were batting. Play started 135 minutes late in the morning and the match was reduced to 37 overs each side.At the Karnail Singh Stadium, only 18 overs could be bowled in which Vidarbha made 40 for four before the umpires called off play.Foggy weather in the morning delayed the game by 15 minutes. Railways won the toss and put Vidarbha in to bat. Just after two overs, play was disrupted due to a sharp shower.The game resumed after 90 minutes but the visitors made a disastrous start, losing their four top batsmen Paresh Sutana (5), Amit Kango (5), Manish Doshi (4) and skipper Lalchand Rajput (0) with the total at a paltry 17. Railways' medium pacers Dharmendra Mishra (3) and Zakir Hussain shared the spoils. After 79 minutes of game, rain put a total stop to the match.
