As 14-year-old Yash Fefar underwent a surgery at Yashodhara Hospital in Hyderabad on Monday, back home in Rajkot his schoolmates and teachers prayed for his recovery. A Class VII student of Kendriya Vidhyalaya in Rajkot, Yash was one of the victims of the Hyderabad blast at Lumbini Park. While his father Vallabhai Fefar died in the incident, Yash received serious injuries. He was supposed to rejoin school from Monday after a vacation with his parent down South.

Yash joined the Kendriya Vidyalaya, located on Kalawad Road, in 2004 and within three years he became a popular figure in the class due to his charm and wit. A good academic record has made him a known name amongst all his teachers. “Yash is very bright in studies. He is an asset for the school,” said K Shukla, his class teacher. “Yash was so excited about the trip that he came and told me about taking leave nearly a month back, when he first came to know the schedule,” he added.

Even as the entire school prayed collectively for Yash, the atmosphere remained grim. His friends, who were waiting to return to the playground after Yash came back, chose to remain indoors with the rest of the students, even in the games period. “It is fun being with him. We all were expecting him to be with us on Monday,” said a classmate.
