The Delhi High Court today issued notices to the Centre and CBI on a petition by controversial godman Chandraswami seeking quashing of contents of the ‘action taken report’ on the recommendations of the Jain Commission in former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination case.

Issuing the notices, Justice R C Jain has fixed March 24 deadline for the replies. Chandraswami claimed that the Commission’s report was not based on facts, but only ‘‘statements which are gossips, hearsay or petty.’’

Directing his ire at Justice Jain, the godman accused him of acting as an ‘‘agent’’ of politicians.

The petition claimed that deceased journalist Rajinder Jain had produced before the Commission, the tape of a purported conversation with Union Law Minister H S Bharadwaj.
