CHANDIGARH, Sept 22: Punjab Communications Limited will take on Chandigarh XI in the opening match of the fifth J P Atray Memorial cricket tournament tomorrow at the PCA Stadium, S A S Nagar near here.
The tournament, which will carry a cash prize of Rs one lakh, will have seven teams vying for top honours. Oil and Natural Gas Commission (Delhi), Punjab State Electricity Board (Patiala), Bishnoi Cricket Club (Chandigarh), Punjab Cricket Club and Punjab Colts are the other teams.
Matches will be played over 50 overs each, though heavy rain in the region these days might be a dampener to the tournament.
PUNCOM will be led by the former Punjab Ranji skipper Krishan Mohan and will have among others Bharti Vij, Ubaid Kamal, Ajay Mehra, Arun Bedi and Munish Arora.
