DEVENTER (HOLLAND), Aug 2: Inclement weather continued to plague the India `A’ cricket team’s tour of the Netherlands with both One-Day fixtures against Denmark called off because of heavy showers.
The first one-dayer yesterday was washed out and heavy showers later in the day forced the team managements to abandon today’s second tie as well.
The fledgling Danish team which could hardly get any feel of stiff international competition left for home last night.
The Indian team has hardly had any chance to play since their opening three-day match was also ruined by incessant downpours. The Indian bowlers had reduced Denmark to 41 for five on July 28, the opening day, when rain intervened to rule out any further action.
The team managements had to give up hopes of playing today due to unplayable ground conditions.
Coach Krishnamachari Srikkanth said: "It’s disappointing to see three matches washed out due to rain. Our boys came here to perform and impress the selectors back home but the weather isplaying a cruel joke on them."
ITENARY REVISED: Inclement weather has forced rescheduling of the India `A’ cricket tour itinerary against the Netherlands with first of the three one-day matches advanced by five days which will be played here tomorrow.
India `A’ were to play three one-dayers against Holland on August 8, 10 and 11.
Revised Itinerary
Aug 3 (one-dayer); Aug 5-7 (three-day match); Aug 10, 11 (one-dayer); Aug 13-15 (three-day match).
