R-south ward officer suspended

MUMBAI, June 2: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation today suspended the ward officer of R-south, S Subramanium, for alleged failure to tackle the problem of illegal constructions in his ward.

The suspension order was signed and dispatched by additional municipal commissioner Shreedhar Joshi today. Joshi said Subramanium was suspended as he had failed to take action against ten rooms illegally constructed right next to the ward office even after being asked by an additional municipal commissioner to take immediate action. The AMC had written to Subramanium asking him to personally visit the site. However, Subramanium, it is learnt, deputed a sub-engineer instead, after which the administration decided to suspend him.
