Maruti told to stop registration of cars
New Delhi:
The Delhi Government has withdrawn exclusive facility granted to Maruti dealers to register new vehicles with immediate effect following the Supreme Court8217;s order banning all non-commercial vehicles not complying with Euro-2 emissions norms in the National Capital Region NCR. In a letter sent to the Maruti Udyog Ltd MUL, the company which has a market share of about 80 per cent in the passenger car segment, the transport department of the Delhi Government has asked to stop the registration process immediately, officials said.

Mercury soars
New Delhi:
Mercury hovered markedly above normal in north-west India today keeping the people in the grip of stifling heatwave but slumped in Bihar as the country-wide toll mounted to 72. Dholpur in Rajasthan sizzled at 48.4 degrees celsius, seven degrees above normal as the blistering heat paralysed normal life in the state.

20 houses gutted
Gwalior:
Twenty houses were gutted in a major fire in Nagara village in Morena district on Sunday. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot which brought the blaze under control after 20 hours, fire brigade sources said.
