PUTA to stage dharna on Dec 11

CHANDIGARH, Dec 6: The executive committee of the Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) will hold a two-hour long dharna at the office of the Panjab University Vice-Chancellor M. M. Puri, on December 11.

According to a press release issued by PUTA secretary M. Rajivlochan, the dharna is being held to protest among other things the delay in implementation of the revised pay-scales and against the “meddling in the affairs of the university and not respecting the autonomy of university teachers” by the government and university management.

The dharna is being organised in accordance with a “unanimous decision” taken at the regional convention of the AIFUTA on November 29, Rajivlochan added.
