CHANDIGARH, July 30: With the weather staying fine throughout the day, trials for admission on sports basis to various Punjab University departments were held today at the PU Campus grounds.There was a large turnout for the trials. Respective coaches in the various disciplines were seen making the applicants go through their paces. Whereas some events were played outdoors, others like table tennis, gymnastics, yoga, badminton etc were held in the indoor PU Gymnasium Hall.The Punjab University Sports Council officials also checked the respective sports and academic certificates The sports certificates will now be graded and the final list will be displayed in the departments accordingly. The officials were helped by the concerned discipline's coaches.Among the sportspersons were `old timers', who were seeking readmission. The final lists will be displayed in a few days time. However, these trials will not be considered when the Punjab University Campus teams for participation in PU Inter-College meets are to be selected. Fresh trials will then be held and the teams will be selected accordingly.
