PATIALA, Nov 11: Punjab and Sind Bank opened its 23rd branch office in Officers Colony here yesterday. Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh Bir inaugurated this computerised, Specialised Personal Banking (SPB) branch. Chief Editor “Charhdikala Group of Newspapers”, Jagjit Singh Dardi cited examples from Sri Guru Granth Sahib and gave a detailed history of this bank where service with a smile is the motto.
Zonal Manager Harjinder Singh Ahuja, Patiala Zone, welcomed those present at the gathering and assured them of dedicated and personalised service by the bank staff. He said that apart from deposit accounts and locker facility, the bank shall be providing consumer loans on items like T.V., refrigerator, washing machine, scooter, car and other items. The bank will also provide house building loans as well as for repair of existing houses, he added. H.P.S. Wadhwa, manager of the newly opened branch, assured full cooperation to all customers of the bank.
Check I-Card before allowing to vote: Waraich
SAS NAGAR: Inderjit Singh Waraich, president of the local unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal, has demanded that voter identity cards issued by the Election Commission some time ago should be seen before allowing someone to cast vote. Almost all Mohali residents possess identity cards, he said. This would check bogus voting which resulted in the victory of unpopular leaders.
CMC doctor’s death condoled
Chandigarh: Avtar Singh Joga, a Youth Congress leader and Director, Markfed, has condoled the death of Karan Pal Singh, a senior doctor with Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, and a nephew of former finance minister Dr Manmohan Singh. Dr Karan Pal passed away yesterday.
