CHANDIGARH, JAN 20: Punjab Minister Parkash Singh Majitha, passed away in the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PRIMER) here, an official spokesman said.

Majitha, who was 80 is survived by three sons and a daughter.

He was Minister without any portfolio as he had been ailing for quite some time. Elected to the Punjab Assembly from Majitha constituency, he was first elected to the state assembly in 1967.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has condoled the death and described Majitha as a staunch Akali, an able statesman and a social worker.
