GULBARGA, OCT 17: Reigning champions Pune University retained the trophy when they beat Bangalore University in the finals of the South and West Inter-University Kho-Kho Championship on the final day here today.Pune Varsity players, also the national champions, scored a facile victory over Bangalore by seven points. The winning team was ahead with 12-06 at the first half and were able to score another seven points in the second half.The Bangalore team, which conceded twelve points in the first half, never recovered from the deficit. They could get only six points in the second essay and had to be satisfied with being runners-up in the championship.For Pune Nithish, who played four minutes and ten seconds and got three points, came out with flying colours supported by his teammates Rahul, Rohit and Godbole.For Bangalore Tulsidas dodged Pune boys for more than four minutes and also scored two points while Velan played for three minutes and also gained two points for the team.In the play-offmatches played for third and fourth places, Mumbai University beat North Maharashtra University by one innings and one points.The Mumbai team had scored eleven points to four in the first-half and North Maharashtra players in their second half could get out only six players of the Mumbai thus conceded the match by a term and one points. All the first four teams however qualified for Inter-Varsity national Kho-Kho Championship.
