Award for St Anne8217;s High School
St. Anne8217;s High School won the Young Men8217;s Christian Association YMCA trophy at the inter-school competition organised as part of the Independence Day celebrations : More than 500 students from 32 schools participated. Deccan Education Society8217;s English medium school and St. Felix high school bagged the second and third prize respectively. Vidya Niketan High School, Chinchwad bagged two prizes at the elocution competition on the subject India towards the next millenium8217;. Brig Madan Gopal, President, Pune Cantonment Board inaugurated the competitionwhile M Durairaj, President, Poona YMCA distributed the prizes.
School children8217;s competition
The National Lions of India will conduct a drawing competition for school children on August 21 at Udyan Mangal Karyalaya, Sadashiv Peth from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Subjects will be announced on the spot. There will be three groups comprising students from Standard I 8211; IV, V -VII and VIII to X. The prizes will be distributed on the same day. Chief guests Bindu Madhav Joshi, Col retd Anil Athalye and M S Gauri, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police will be present.
Rakhis for disabled jawans
Women from Mumbai-based Aaroha Vikas Trust and Vanbandhu will visit the Artificial Limb Centre on Monday and tie rakhis to at least 100 jawans who were injured during the Kargil Operation.
