The manufacturing majors — Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, DaimlerChrysler — are sticking to it’s-business-as-usual stand, notwithstanding the unprecendented rain which has cut off links with Mumbai.

But Pune CII says there have been losses in production and a disruption in the supply chain.

An inventory pile-up is expected if there is no let-up in the rain in the next two days, says Pramod Chaudhari, chairman, Praj Industries and vice-chairman of CII, Pune. ‘‘There is disruption in production with material movement severely hampered though it is difficult to quantify anything at the moment.’’

Both incoming material and distribution of finished goods have been equally hit.
