Complaints of irregularities in petrol pumps and LPG agency allotments poured in before the parliamentary standing committee on petroleum and chemicals which held a sitting here today.

Most complainants said their applications were rejected by the dealer selection boards (DSBs) in the state without valid reasons and panel members had ‘‘favoured people of their choice’’.

Many alleged the DSB demanded bribes and they lost the dealership because they could not pay. Complaints were today received from Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Warangal, Nalgonda, West Godavari, Vizianagaram and Chittoor districts. An MBA graduate from Nizamabad district brought to the notice of the panel how a person who passed matriculation was favoured while his application was ignored.

After hearing the complaints, the panel met general managers and marketing managers of oil companies. Four of the seven members on the committee arrived today armed with written complaints lodged by over a dozen applicants.
