CHANDIGARH, June 12: The house of Sanjay Wadwalkar, the chairman of the PU Department of Mass Communication, was burgled on Wednesday night.

The family had left the City on Wednesday morning for holiday to Manali. A resident of Sector 15, Wadwalkar was informed yesterday by a neighbour to come back to the City immediately.

On coming back, he found that all the almirahs in the house, including those in the children’s room, had been ransacked by the burglar. About five tolas of gold, silver and some cash were stolen from the house.

Wadwalkar said that the burglars seemed to have spent considerable time in the house. Even the jars kept in the kitchen store had been removed from their place. Some cooking had also been done by the burglars by taking items from the fridge.A complaint has been registered regarding the theft and investigations are being carried out.
