BHUBANESWAR, JULY 25: Bhubaneswar's Higher Education Department has done the impossible, twice. In one instance it transferred a dead lecturer and in another a physics professor was transferred to a college which does not have a physics department at all!According to sources, name of Debaraj Khandual, a mathematics lecturer of Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja Mahavidyalaya, Bhanjanagar figured in the list of college teachers transferred to various places. Khandual was transferred to Buguda Peoples' College, Buguda but, he had died last August! In another of its goof-up, the department shifted Shyam Sundar Das, a physics lecturer of Nayagarh College to Sharanakula College in Puri district. But as it turned out that the physics department does not exist in Sharanakula College.Sources alleged that senior higher education department officials, in-charge of college professors' transfers, did not care to update the information they had on the lecturers and instead went straight ahead with preparing the transferlist. When director-in-charge of Higher Education Department Trilochan Das was contacted, he admitted to the department's mistake in Shyam Sunder's case. But in Khandual's case, Das said, Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja Mahavidyalaya's principal failed to inform them of his death.
