Pro-incumbency will ensure our win: Sheila Dikshit

Delhi CM claimed dissidence within Delhi Congress would not mar the prospects of her party in the coming polls.

Claiming that dissidence within Delhi Congress would not mar the prospects of her party in the November 29 elections, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday lashed out at her detractors saying only those who did not get tickets were unhappy.

Dikshit said instead of anti-incumbency, “pro-incumbency” will ensure Congress’ win.

“People who did not get party tickets for fighting the elections were disappointed. They are not happy. I do not agree with dissidence or infighting within the party,” she told PTI on the sidelines of a function here.

Rejecting suggestions that anti-incumbency would affect the Congress, which had been in the office for two consecutive terms in Delhi, the Chief Minister said, “there is nothing on record to suggest that our chances will suffer because of anti-incumbency”.

“I would rather say that pro-incumbency will work in our favour,” she said.

Observing that there is lot of development work still to be done in Delhi, Dikshit said, “many works have to be done, buses have to come, roads have to be made wider, education has to be expanded, colleges have to be expanded, healthcare has to be expanded.. everything has to be done”.

Reacting to media reports doubting the preparations of the Commonweatlh Games, the Chief Minister said she was “looking into it”.

“I am sure about the progress of the work for the Commonwealth Games,” she said.
