MUMBAI, July 16: The Akhil Maharashtra Machhimar Kriti Samiti has condemned the move to privatise 48 fishing ports. The Samiti says the 6 lakh strong fishing community residing on the 720 km stretch Maharashtra coastline is reeling under the onslaught of foreign vessels, water pollution from urban centres and chemical industries and modern prawn farms. It fears that fishermen will lose their livelihood.
