Won’t allow our territory to be used against India: Nepal

Nepal has said that it will not allow its territory to be used against India,after New Delhi raised security concerns,including the possible nexus between Maoists of the two countries.

Ruling CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal,back from a visit to India this week,said today that Indian leaders were concerned about security threats emanating from Nepal.

“During my meeting with Indian leaders,I found that they were concerned about the possible threat of security from Nepalese territory,” he told reporters here.

“I have talked with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about Nepal’s current political situation,bilateral relations,peace process,security,economic condition and the issue relating to the Maoists,” he said,adding India has also pledged its support in “whatever way” to find a resolution to Nepal’s internal political problem.

Speaking on India’s stand on the political deadlock in Nepal,Khanal said: “They (India) consider Nepal’s political problem as our own internal matter and will support us in whatever way we resolve the problem”.

Both India and China want to see the peace process complete and the Nepalese constitution be drafted on time,he added.
