Gagan Narang,rifle shooter
I have been to a few Games Villages over the years, but my best memory would be of the 4 gold medals I won at the Commonwealth Games four years ago in Melbourne. It was also memorable since I won the gold there and was World No.1 soon after that. It was just a special Games for all of us what with Indian shooters winning so many medals everyday, and it was almost raining medals. Wed get a bunch of flowers with every medal, and I vividly remember, how me and Samresh used to put those bunches out of our room and at the end of it we had about 11 of them altogether and a nice little ready-made garden!
Me and Samresh were room-mates and the dining hall was our favourite destination. The first few days we were still adjusting and couldnt get sleep,so wed wake at odd times and go to the dining hall. Wed gorge on all kinds of food and went about it very systematically. There was an opening round, and a second round. The first was a tasting round, and the second was to select what was the best, and a third would follow just to enjoy our days picks. But we left the Games Village and couldnt really soak in the success because we had to head to China for the World Cup.
