Tillakaratne Dilshan out of tri-series in Caribbean

Dilshan limped off the field after suffering a muscle tear trying to flick the ball on to the leg side.

Sri Lanka’s hard-hitting opener Tillakaratne Dilshan,who pulled off a calf muscle in the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal against India,was today ruled out of the upcoming tri-series in the West Indies,starting June 28.

While batting against India in the second semifinal yesterday,Dilshan limped off the field after suffering a muscle tear trying to flick the ball on to the leg side.

According to the Sri Lankan team spokesperson,scans revealed Dilshan had suffered a second degree tear and has been advised four to six weeks of recovery time.

Dilshan’s replacement is likely to be announced today and a player from the Sri Lanka A team,which is currently touring the Caribbean,could be named.

India is the other participating team in the tri-series besides host West Indies.
