Ahead of the third and final one-dayer between India and South Africa here,the security has been beefed up as a precautionary measure,police officials said on Friday. Over 1000 police personnel,three bomb disposal squads (BDS),commandos and four companies of State Reserve Police (SRP) have been deployed at the Sardar Patel Stadium and at the team hotel.
Security is in place at the stadium and the players hotel as a precautionary measure as we do not want to take any chances, joint commissioner of police (JCP) Satish Sharma said. Over 1,000 police personnel including 134 officers,400 policemen,100 women constables,two companies of home guards including one of women team have been deployed for the match, Sharma said.
Among other measures,the area surrounding the team hotel has been cordoned off and occupants of building near it have been asked to keep their windows and doors facing the hotel closed for the next two days till the teams are in town.
