Michael Clarke’s bad back has piled fresh uncertainty on Australia’s buildup to the Ashes series. Australian physiotherapist Alex Kountouris has confirmed that Clarke is not a certainty for the first of the five-Test series which starts on Thursday. Usman Khawaja has been called up as a standby.

Bhupathi wins,Paes loses

Armstrong for triathlon

Lance Armstrong will compete in a sprint-distance triathlon in New Zealand in January. Organisers of the Blue Lake Multisport festival at Rotorua on New Zealand’s North Island have confirmed Armstrong’s presence in the January 29-30 event.

Manny’s retirement plans

Manny Pacquiao has said he plans to retire in three years. Pacquiao also said he is willing to fight Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez again but it would probably not excite fans. “I think people are not so interested…because if I were a boxing fan,I would not watch Pacquiao vs Marquez,” he said.
