Modi, who has been in the eye of a storm for alleged financial irregularities, had yesterday refused to resign and had even threatened to expose some people who tried to bring the game into disrepute.

The BCCI,on its part, had tried to persuade Modi to step down voluntarily but without success. Modi’s presence would mean that he would chair the meeting by virtue of being the Commissioner and Chairman.
