Virat Kohli has impressed stand-in New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor. After being at the receiving end of Kohlis century,Taylor said that Indias No.3 batsman was a special player. It was a chanceless knock. The way he paced his innings was outstanding. Yuvraj Singh gave him very good support. Playing alongside him for the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the Indian Premier League,I always had the feeling that he was a special player. Its just a matter of time before he makes it to the Test squad, Taylor said. Hopefully we can stop him (from scoring runs) in the next game, he added. Taylor said that in spite of Kohlis knock,New Zealand could have made a match of it if they hadnt lost the plot in the middle overs. We lost it in the middle overs. It would have been good if we had picked up a couple of early wickets when the ball was seaming around. But their openers did a very good job and Kohli picked it up from there. I dont regret my decision to bowl first. The wicket was a little bumpy but was okay. It was a 250-wicket and we gave away a little too much. Then we lost some important wickets in the middle overs, said Taylor. The middle-order batsman believed that the visitors have it in them to bounce back in the series. Hopefully we will play (Daniel) Vettori and (Brendon) McCullum in the next match. Vettori is a factor on any wicket,in any condition. And given the squad we have,we are still capable of winning. After a 4-0 hiding that they received in Bangladesh last month,New Zealand will be keen to avoid another whitewash. It would have been nice to start on a winning note. Now,we know we have to work a lot harder in the next game, Taylor said.
