Jeev Milkha Singh is a doubtful starter but Indian-born Swede and two-time PGA Tour winner Daniel Chopra will return to tee off in this years Hero Honda Indian Open, which moves base to the DLF Golf and Country Club with a recession-defying,all-time high USD 1.25 million purse. Organisers today said the entry has not closed yet and they were expecting Jeev to join the field. Since Jeev is not playing in the Presidents Cup,we are hoping he would be here, Hero Honda MD and CEO Pawan Munjal told reporters here. Chinas Liang Wen-chong would return to defend his title in what would be the richest full field event of the Asian Tour,he said. After Delhi Golf Club played host to the event for long,Munjal said the organisers decided to explore other options as well. Bringing it to the (Arnold Palmer-designed) DLF Golf and Country Club is part of our plan to start moving the tournament around. In time,we hope the event travels to various parts of the country, he said. With Jeev looking uncertain, all eyes will be on Daniel Chopra, who learned the basics at the Delhi Golf Club before shifting to Switzerland and went on to win two titles on the US PGA Tour - the 2007 Ginn sur Mer Classic and the 2008 Mercedes-Benz Championship. Rising Indian star Gaganjeet Bhullar would also be in contention and the strapping Kapurthala pro said he counts the Arnold Palmer-designed course at DLF Golf and Country Club among his favourites. I have been there for three years in Asian Tour and have learnt a lot. My British Open experience changed my outlook and winning my first Asian Tour title gave me lot of confidence. I consider this course as one of my favourites, he said. Apart from winning the title in Jakarta,I did well in Brunei and Macau (to finish second in both tournaments) and Im riding high on confidence, Bhullar said.
