India defeated Sri Lanka in the third cricket One-day international by five wickets to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series at R Premadasa stadium,here today.

Brief Scores: Sri Lanka: 286 for 5 in 50 overs. (Kumar Sangakkara 73,Angelo Mathews 71 not out; Zaheer Khan 2/39).

India: 288 for five in 49.4 overs. (Gautam Gambhir 102,Suresh Raina 65 not out; Lasith Malinga 2/60)
