Hundreds participate in JIMS Half Marathon

The Run drew the participation of young men and women from across the length and breadth of Delhi NCR.

JIMS (Jagannath International Management School) along with Roundtable League Dart 31,an NGO organised JIMS Healthy Youth,Healthy India Half Marathon,2010.

JIMS Healthy Youth,Healthy India Half Marathon,2010 was organized at 0700 hours on Nov 13,2010 from Vasant Kunj flyover to the Basant Lok Market Traffic signal and back.

The Run drew the participation of young men and women from across the length and breadth of Delhi NCR,in particular the youth from Delhi University,Jawaharlal Nehru University,Jamia Millia Islamia,Amity University,NLU and other educational institutions of Delhi,NCR.

Dr Ravi K Dhar,director and professor of communication at JIIMS,feels that there is a lack of right kind of attitude towards sports in the country. Comparing India to China he says the latter is doing good in sports because of its spectacular economic performance and all round progress.

“Youth runs like the one organised by JIMS should help to stimulate the curiosity and interest of people in giving all-out support to sports,” Dhar adds.

The event seeks to promote interest of the citizens of Delhi in the need for nurturing Healthy Youth for a resilient and resurgent India.

The marathon was flagged off by Sandeep Sarkaria,fastest man of India. Many of our Delhi Commonwealth Games,2010 athletes also participated in the marathon.

“Sporting events help people in maintaining a right kind of balance in life and lead a healthy life which has become so important these days,” Sandeep said.

The maiden Annual Youth run in the series was organized on Nov 14,2009. It was flagged off by P K Tripathi,IAS,Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Delhi,Smt.Shiela Dixit.
