Five militants killed in US drone strike in Pak tribal belt

The missiles fired by the drone targeted a house being used by militants in Datta Khel area.

A US drone fired two missiles in northwest Pakistan’s volatile North Waziristan tribal region on Sunday,killing at least five militants.

The missiles fired by the drone targeted a house being used by militants in Datta Khel area near Miranshah,the main town of North Waziristan tribal agency,officials said.

Local residents pulled bodies of the five militants from the debris.

Several drones were seen hovering over the area after the attack.

US drone strikes have been stepped up in the past few weeks following a relative lull during the period when Pakistan was devastated by unprecedented floods.
