When the table tennis squad was heading to the Games village,we were worried about living conditions and the kind of rooms we would get. We were watching news channels and had only heard bad things about the village.

In fact we were worried that there would be stray dogs loitering about near our rooms. I must say that my first day at the Games village has been a pleasant surprise. The experience has been amazing and our room feels like a five-star hotel accommodation. At international tournaments we would have to share toilets with other athletes. Here only my room mate,Abhishek Ravichandran, and I have to share one bathroom.

I’m quite fond of gadgets and I carrying my laptop. It is great that we have wi-fi all around in the Games village. I’m really looking forward to spending time in the village. But the best thing here has to be the dining area. We have a variety of menus to chose from, including Chinese,European,African,Indian and Caribbean cuisine. Right now,I’ve filled my plate with so much food, that I’m feeling guilty. I can’t wait for all the athletes to show up.

Honestly,I am now wondering what these foreign delegates were complaining about. The only thing I am disappointed about is that my room doesn’t have a view of the Yamuna.
