The three-year-old Jack Russell called Chopper was in his owner Debbie Wallbank’s van when someone took the vehicle from a petrol station in Lancashire.

But Debbie was shocked when the pooch came back unharmed after more than six hours and rewarded him with his favourite calorific treat – a meat and potato pie.

She told BBC News: “I’m so relieved he’s back. I’ve not let him out of my sight since.”
