Czechs hope captain Rosicky fit for Poland match

Rosicky injured his Achilles tendon during Tuesday's win over Greece and had to be substituted after the first half.

Injured Czech Republic captain Tomas Rosicky remains doubtful for the final Group A match against Poland at the European Championship.

Rosicky injured his Achilles tendon during Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Greece and had to be substituted after the first half.

Although a scan at Wroclaw’s military hospital didn’t reveal any damage to the tendon,Rosicky says he will miss the team’s final pre-match training. He says his condition is getting better and he plans to undergo a fitness test in the morning before the match.

Rosicky’s absence would be a major blow for the Czech Republic’s hopes to reach the quarterfinals. A win for either team in Saturday’s game would qualify it for the next round.
