hyderabad: Australia’s chief coach Mickey Arthur said they were not averse to the idea of making a few changes in the playing eleven for Mohali Test. “Look,I would be lying if I say that we are not contemplating changes. We do have to reassess the whole situation. We have got two Tests to stay in the series and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is big thing for us,” Arthur said.
Swann ruled out
otago: England off-spinner Graeme Swann faces a race against time to be fit for this year’s Ashes double-header after injury forced him out of the Test series against New Zealand on Wednesday. “(He) clearly couldn’t get through the five days,” England captain Alastair Cook said after Monty Panesar was named to replace Swann in the first Test.
Samaraweera retires
Colombo: Thilan Samaraweera has retired from international cricket after he was excluded from the SL squad to play Bangladesh in the first cricket Test this week. Samaraweera said he made up his mind after speaking to chief selector Sanath Jayasuriya and SLC secretary Nishantha Ranatunga about their plans for him. Samaraweera was not in the initial squad for the two-Test series against Bangladesh because the selectors said they wanted to groom younger players.
