Three former British lawmakers accused of cheating on their expense claims have won a bid to get legal aid to fund their defense.

David Chaytor,Elliot Morley and Jim Devine are accused of claiming tens of thousands of pounds in public money by false accounting to pay for housing,stationery and cleaning services. The men deny wrongdoing and are scheduled to go on trial later this year.

Court officials said Monday that an application for taxpayer-funded legal aid for the three former Labour Party lawmakers was granted Friday.

British taxpayers were outraged by the exposure last year of expenses abuse by hundreds of legislators,who claimed public funds for everything from second homes to horse manure and adult movies/.
