Chandigarh set to witness India XI vs World XI hockey tomorrow

Leading the world pack will be Olympic gold medallist Brent Livermore,while the Indian contingent will be spearheaded by Prabhjot Singh.

In order to promote the inaugural World Series Hockey (WSH),the organisers are all set to host an exhibition match between India XI and World XI in Chandigarh tomorrow.

The friendly match is aimed at giving the fans a taste of the action that they can expect when WSH begins on February 29 next year.

The WSH World XI will comprise of the foreign players,who have signed for the tournament,and will be coached by Andrew Meredith and Jose Brasa.

Leading the world pack will be Olympic gold medallist Brent Livermore,while the Indian contingent will be spearheaded by Prabhjot Singh.

Harendra Singh and Jude Felix will shoulder the coaching responsibilities for the hosts.

“I’m really excited to captain the WSH World XI at the Exhibition Match. It will be an absolute treat for the spectators in Chandigarh and will be a fitting finale to the rigorous preparatory camps,” said Livermore.

Prabhjot,meanwhile,said it will be an exciting encounter and will give the audience a glimpse of the future happenings.

“It is indeed a fantastic idea to showcase the event with an exhibition match that will give the fans a window to the main tournament in February. I am glad the exhibition match has been scheduled in Chandigarh. The city is passionate about hockey and will witness a fine display of skills,” said Prabhjot.

Technical Director of WSH,Dennis Meredith said,”The entire technical team of WSH will be present in Chandigarh to ensure the smooth conduct of the match. Fans will also witness the fast paced thrill of a match played across four quarters instead of two halves,exactly as they can expect to watch when the tournament begins on February 29th,2012.”

The match is scheduled to commence at 6:00 pm at the sector 42 stadium.
